history of our agency
It was in Biarritz, in 2008, that SMOG FILMS was born and remains. Lovers of the lifestyle of the Basque Coast, passionate about surfing, skateboarding, mountain and discovery, this is where we will probably stay. Often traveling through France and the world on the part of our profession, the story tells us that it is not in Biarritz, but in Malmö, Sweden, at a world skate championship, that we, Jean Penninck, Julie Bernadoy and Sébastien Abès worked together for the first time. Living all three on the Basque Coast, a friendship and other collaborations arrived very quickly. Then the idea of developing an agency, driven by common values and an appropriate complementarity, appeared to us as evidence. Our strength comes from our inspirations, drawn from our daily life, from our creative friends, and from the exciting universes of the arts and music. Our quality is our requirement, that of excellence, supply and aesthetics.
Realization of a video project
The realization of a film is an exciting journey starting from an idea and arriving until the diffusion of your project. A series of necessary steps, sometimes unknown, are put in place to create a final work corresponding to all expectations.
1. Contact:
Develop a listening and advisory relationship with the client. Set the basics of ideas, a pitch, accompanied by an estimate and advice.
2. Brainstorming, briefing and construction of the project:
Interact with the client and then after reflection, draw a scenario and a budget.
3. Work organization:
Establish a team, plan all stages of production, manage all human, logistical and material elements (37% of the time allotted to the project).
4. Filming, photographing, creating the content that will be the raw material of our work (18% of the time allotted to the project).
5. Video editing:
Sort the images, begin to assemble them, find the right rhythms, the good transitions to arrive at the final film.
6. The sound:
Compose music, align the images and the rhythm of the film on its tempo, create sounds and atmospheres.
7. Graphic post-production:
Creation of titles, animations of images, 2D or 3D. Here the graphic elements mingle with the images and the threads.
8. Finalization:
Calibration of the sound and the image, cleaning of the plans, alterations, refining and finally the long-awaited export of the film (45% of the time allocated to the project).
